Grief Therapy Group

Meg Baker, MS Clinical Intern - Group Facilitator

This group will focus on principles to help you understand grief.  We will be guided by the book "Understanding Your Grief" by Dr. Alan Wolfelt. Participants will receive a free copy of the book & the corresponding journal and be asked to read a chapter a week. Opportunity to share, insights, thoughts, and feelings during the group time will be given but participant can join in as they feel comfortable.

Group Details:

Our grief group will start on Monday, February 7th and meet in-person (320W Student Union) on a weekly basis for 12 weeks.


Self-Compassion Mindfulness Group

Joanna Fullmer, LCSW - Group Facilitator

This group is designed for all of us who struggle with a harsh inner critic. Learn to treat yourself with the same warmth and kindness you would offer a close friend, especially in times of struggle. In this skills-based group, we learn and practice mindfulness exercises designed to build self compassion and treat ourselves with kindness and care during difficult times. The group setting enables you to connect with other students with similar concerns, and offer one another support and care as you build self compassion and self regard. No meditation experience required.  

Group Details:

This virtual group will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.  This is an 8-week skill building group and a potential start date is yet to be determined.


Grad Student Support Group

Joanna Fullmer, LCSW - Group Facilitator

This group offers a space to connect with other grad students to discuss the unique challenges of graduate school. Topics include: mental health, academic stress, work/life balance, the academic job market, and self-care.   

Group Details:

This group will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  A projected start date will be announced at a later date.


Self-Esteem Group

Carol Challenger, PhD., Group Facilitator

This group offers a supportive environment where students with similar concerns related to self-esteem interact and learn tools for improving self-acceptance, self-confidence, self-worth, mood, and overall coping skills.  

Group Details:

This 8-week group will meet in-person starting Tuesday, Jan. 31st from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
