Training Opportunities


Master's Practicum Positions

The Student Counseling Center has two Master’s practicum positions during the academic year, which includes the summer, fall and spring semesters. General responsibilities may include individual and group counseling for personal-emotional and career concerns, outreach programming and consultation with faculty, staff and residence halls. Individual supervision, group supervision and in-service training will be provided by the professional staff. You must also be available on Friday mornings for supervision and staff meetings.


Doctoral Practicum Positions

The Student Counseling Center has two 16-hour per week doctoral practicum positions during the academic year (August to May). These positions may or may not be funded dependent upon potential budget cuts. General responsibilities may include individual and group counseling for personal-emotional and career concerns, crisis intervention, outreach programming and consultation with faculty, staff, and residence halls. Individual supervision, group supervision and in-service training will be provided by the professional staff. You must also be available on Friday mornings for supervision and staff meetings.


Intake Counselor Positions

The Student Counseling Center hires two half-time (20 hours per week) Intake Counselors for the academic year (August to May). Responsibilities include: completing intake interviews and making appropriate referrals, providing crisis coverage for a four-hour weekly rotation, writing intake reports and completing clinical paperwork in a timely manner, completing psychosocial interviews and writing psychosocial reports for psychiatric referral and responding to phone inquiries from students, advisors, staff, faculty and family. The position requires availability on Friday mornings for supervision and staff meetings.


Grief and Loss Graduate Assistant

The Student Counseling Center has one, 16-hour per week graduate assistantship during the academic year (August to May). This position is open for Master’s and Doctoral level students and is funded through the Remember The Ten Run money that is donated to the Student Counseling Center each year. General responsibilities include developing and organizing campus events relating to death, loss and bereavement; outreach programming on grief-related topics and marketing grief counseling services for OSU and NOC-Stillwater students. This position may include providing grief counseling for students, but may not serve as an internship or practicum site for counseling students as there is no guarantee that counseling will be a component of this position. Individual supervision and in-service training will be provided by the professional staff. Applicants must be available on Friday mornings for supervision and staff meetings.
